VP of Engineering
Due to rapid growth, my client is currently looking for a VP of Engineering to join their team. They are looking for someone to help them keep best practices in place and implement new policies as they continue to grow as a leader in their space. This person will be responsible for managing the development and QA teams across multiple offices while helping to maintain their culture, efficiency, and drive as they continue to bring on new projects.
The ideal candidate will come from an engineering background with open source technology. Their teams use Python, Spark and Ruby but that experience is not required. You will be experienced in managing large groups across multiple teams in an agile environment utilizing scrum and have a history of improving agility in these engineering teams. In addition, you know what it takes to work with a high volume of requests and have worked in a start-up and/or big data environment.
Your daily responsibilities will consist of mostly people management while remaining hands on by owning architecture, design, execution, quality assurance and delivery of their software as a service product. You will report directly to the CTO and have 4 direct reports with about 25 total reports across 6 teams. There will be a focus on process leadership for these scrum teams while working with them to improve and standardize their development, testing, and release processes.
